Termite Treatment Ipswich FAQs
1. What is the difference between a termite treatment and a termite barrier?
A termite treatment targets and eradicates active infestations inside your home, garden, or structures. A termite barrier, on the other hand, is designed for long-term prevention, protecting your property for up to 8 years.
2. How do I know which termite treatment I need?
Our licensed technicians will assess your home’s construction, access points, termite species, and infestation severity before recommending the best option. Treatments may include direct nest injection, spot treatments, foaming, dusting, or baiting programs.
3. Do termite treatments come with a warranty?
Unlike termite barriers, treatments are for eradication purposes only and generally do not include a warranty, as they target existing infestations rather than providing long-term protection.
4. How much does a termite treatment cost?
Direct injection or spot treatments start from $250
Foaming and dusting treatments start from $750
Colony baiting programs are $2,000 fixed fee
Power pole treatments are $350 per pole
Final costs depend on the treatment type and level of infestation.
5. How long does it take for termite treatments to work?
Timeframes vary depending on the treatment:
Foaming/dusting usually requires 14–28 days with a follow-up visit.
Baiting programs run for 8–12 weeks with fortnightly visits.
Spot and nest treatments may show results within days but may not eliminate the entire colony.
6. Are termite treatments safe for my family and pets?
Yes. Our treatments use APVMA-approved products applied by licensed technicians and are safe when directions are followed. It’s important that people and pets stay away from treated areas until they are completely dry. Do not disturb treated areas, bait stations, or soil applications. If a treated area is damaged or a bait station is removed, please contact us immediately so we can reapply or reset the treatment safely.
7. Will a termite treatment protect my home in the long term?
No. Treatments eradicate current infestations but do not provide ongoing protection. For long-term defence, we recommend installing a Termidor® HE chemical barrier, which includes an 8-year protection period and a $2 million warranty.
Safety Information
At Jets Pest Control, your safety is our priority. All termite treatments are applied by licensed pest control technicians in strict accordance with Australian Standards (AS 3660) and APVMA label requirements. Please follow these safety directions carefully:
General Safety
Keep children, pets, and unprotected persons away from treated areas until surfaces are completely dry.
Do not disturb treated soil, timber, bait stations, or injection points. If they are damaged or moved, contact us immediately for re-treatment.
Always follow the directions provided by the technician on the day of service.
Safety by Treatment Type
Foaming & Dusting Treatments (Fipronil-based)
Avoid contact with treated voids, wall cavities, stumps, and timbers until the technician confirms safe re-entry.
Do not inhale dust or foam. Re-entry is only permitted after the treatment areas are sealed and the product has dried.
Treated surfaces may be taped, plugged, or sealed to minimise exposure — do not remove seals.
Soil & Barrier Treatments (Fipronil)
People and pets must remain off treated soil until it is dry.
Avoid activities such as watering, digging, landscaping, or construction that may disturb the treated zones.
Do not allow chemical runoff into drains, streams, or ponds — highly toxic to aquatic life.
Aquariums, ponds, pet food and water bowls must be covered or removed before treatment.
Baiting Treatments (Chlorfluazuron)
-
Baits are placed in secure stations; do not touch, move, or tamper with stations.
-
Only technicians should replenish or moisten bait.
-
Keep children and pets away from bait stations at all times.
-
Stations are inspected every 2 to 4 weeks. Please notify us if one is disturbed or removed.
Environmental Protection
Highly toxic to fish, crustaceans, and aquatic invertebrates. Do not allow chemicals, containers, or rinse water to enter drains, rivers, or other bodies of water.
Avoid treating trees that bear edible fruit or nuts.
First Aid & Emergency
If accidental contact, ingestion, or inhalation occurs, seek medical advice immediately or call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
In an emergency, call 000 and provide details of the chemical used (active ingredient: Fipronil or Chlorfluazuron).
⚠️ Important Notice
Termite treatments are designed for the eradication of active infestations only. They do not provide ongoing home protection. For long-term prevention, consider installing a chemical termite barrier.
