This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

1. About this policy and who it covers

1.1 This policy applies to Jets Pest Control Pty Ltd and to individuals whose personal information we handle, including clients, prospective clients, website users, suppliers, subcontractors, job applicants and other persons who interact with us.
1.2 By providing personal information to us, using our website or engaging our services, you agree to this policy.

2. What personal information we collect

2.1 The types of personal information we collect vary depending on your dealings with us. They may include:

  • identification and contact details such as name, address, phone number and email

  • property details and access instructions for service delivery

  • billing and payment information such as invoice details and payment confirmations. Card data is processed through PCI DSS compliant payment gateways and is not stored in full by us

  • information contained in service records such as inspection reports, treatment plans, photos and diagrams

  • communications with us such as emails, calls and messages

  • website and device data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and cookie identifiers

  • business contact information for commercial clients such as ABN and purchase order details.

2.2 Sensitive information. We generally do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act. Where relevant for health and safety, you may choose to tell us about allergies, medical sensitivities or similar matters. We only collect sensitive information with your consent or where permitted by law.

2.3 Children. Our services are not directed to children. If you are under 16, please do not provide personal information without a parent or guardian’s consent.

3. How we collect personal information

3.1 We collect information directly from you when you contact us, request a quotation, book a service, communicate with our staff, complete a form, respond to a survey, or interact with our website or social media.
3.2 We may collect information from third parties where reasonably necessary, such as:

  • authorised contacts in your organisation

  • industry portals that facilitate warranties or regulatory compliance

  • payment processors confirming payment status

  • building managers or real estate agents providing access or instructions.
    3.3 If we receive information we did not request and it is not reasonably necessary for our functions, we will destroy or de-identify it where lawful and reasonable.

4. Why we collect and use personal information

4.1 We use your personal information to:

  • provide quotations, bookings, inspections, treatments and reports

  • prepare termite management plans and certificates required under Standards and product labels

  • administer contracts, invoices, payments and regulatory obligations

  • arrange residential cover under the QBCC Home Warranty Scheme where applicable, and to submit or facilitate manufacturer programs such as the Termidor Assurance Warranty for eligible residential properties

  • manage client service, respond to enquiries and handle complaints

  • improve our services, website and safety practices

  • send safety notices, essential service updates and administrative messages

  • conduct direct marketing with your consent or as otherwise permitted by law. You can opt out at any time.

4.2 If you do not provide requested information, we may be unable to provide some or all services.

5. Direct marketing and your choices

5.1 We may send you information about services, reminders and offers that we believe are relevant.
5.2 You may opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, replying STOP to an SMS, or contacting us using the details at the end of this policy.
5.3 We do not sell your personal information.

6. Disclosure of personal information

6.1 We may disclose personal information to:

  • our employees, insured subcontractors and trusted service providers who assist us with scheduling, field service, payment processing, data storage, analytics, communications and IT security

  • the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) to arrange or administer the Home Warranty Scheme where applicable

  • manufacturers or program administrators such as BASF for warranty facilitation at eligible residential properties

  • insurers, brokers and legal or professional advisers

  • regulatory authorities, courts or law enforcement where required or authorised by law

  • purchasers of our business or assets subject to confidentiality and applicable law.

6.2 Cross-border disclosure. Some service providers and data hosting solutions may be located in or operate from other countries. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we will take reasonable steps to ensure recipients protect it in accordance with the APPs. Countries in which recipients may be located can include the United States, member states of the European Union and Singapore. The list may change as our technology providers change.

7. Anonymity and pseudonymity

7.1 Where lawful and practicable, you may interact with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym. For most services we need identifiable information to provide quotes, perform work at a property, comply with safety and regulatory requirements, and issue records.

8. Security and retention

8.1 We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures include role-based access, encryption in transit where appropriate, secure premises, staff training and contractual confidentiality obligations.
8.2 We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, then we destroy or de-identify it where lawful and reasonable.

9. Notifiable Data Breaches

9.1 If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess the incident promptly and, if required, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Access and correction

10.1 You may request access to personal information we hold about you and request that it be corrected if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
10.2 We will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity and we may refuse access in the limited circumstances set out in the Privacy Act. If we refuse access or correction, we will provide written reasons and information on how to complain.
10.3 We do not charge for making a request. We may charge reasonable costs for providing copies where permitted by law.

11. Website, cookies and analytics

11.1 Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to enable essential functions, improve performance and analyse traffic. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
11.2 Our website may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

12. Recruitment, employees and contractors

12.1 If you apply for a job with us, we may collect information relevant to your application such as career history, qualifications and referee details.
12.2 Employee records are handled in accordance with the Privacy Act employee records provisions and other applicable laws. Contractor information is handled in accordance with this policy.

13. Third-party payment processing

13.1 We use reputable payment processors to handle card payments. We do not store full card details. Payment processors may collect and process your information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

14. Changes to this policy

14.1 We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on our website and will include the effective date.

15. Questions, concerns and complaints

15.1 If you have a question or wish to make a privacy complaint, please contact us using the details below. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days.
